The four-claw insert nut zinc plated, also called a four prong tee nut is produced to DIN 1624 style, custom per drawing, non-standard insert nut from Low carbon steel Q195/Q235, carbon steel. Sizes run M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, finished with Zinc plated (blue/white or as ordered). It is used on Wood furniture, particle board, MDF and sits mainly in the Furniture manufacturing, woodworking, DIY hardware sector.

How to install four-prong tee nuts
Pre-drill hole
Hole diameter ≈ outer diameter of nut barrel. Hole depth ≥ nut barrel length. Do not drill too large a hole or the nut will spin loose. Too small a hole may split the board, especially MDF and particle board.
Position the nut
Insert the nut from the back side of the board. Place flange flat against wood, prongs pointing into the board and keep it vertical.
Press the nut in (Bolt pulling method, factory recommended)
Put matching bolt plus large washer through from front. Tighten bolt to pull prongs into wood fibres. Stop when flange is flush with board surface; do not over-tighten. Unscrew and remove bolt, the nut remains embedded. Advantages: Even force, lower cracking risk, good vertical alignment and protected threads.
Inspection
Inspection Flange sits flush against panel and nut cannot rotate. Test with matching bolt from front side; thread should engage smoothly without stripping.
Key notes for outdoor furniture
- Panel thickness must exceed nut barrel length. Thin boards are not applicable, easy to pull through.
- MDF and particle board have low strength. Prefer bolt pulling instead of hammer impact for outdoor projects.
- Seal the drilled area with wood wax oil or finishing paint after installation to block moisture and extend service life.
- Match bolt material with nut: stainless nut with stainless bolt, zinc-plated nut with zinc-plated bolt, to prevent galvanic corrosion, which is critical in coastal outdoor environments.
