Product Overview
The concrete self-tapping anchor, also called a self-cutting anchor, forms its own thread in a drilled hole in concrete. There is no chemical resin and no separate sleeve: the cutting edge at the tip threads into the concrete wall as the anchor is driven, which suits medium to deep embedment where the fixing position may still be adjusted before final torque. Our anchors are made from medium carbon steel at grade 8.8 with a high gloss bright zinc finish; stainless A2 is available for corrosive service. Sizes run M8 to M24 with lengths from 60 mm to 300 mm, and they are produced for solid concrete, solid brick and natural stone substrates. Typical users are curtain wall contractors, electrical installers and equipment fabricators.
Function & Working Principle
The tip carries a cutting edge shaped like a short tap flute. As the anchor is driven into the drilled hole, the edge cuts a helical groove into the concrete wall instead of expanding the surrounding material. The result is a formed thread with a large contact area between steel and concrete, which is why this anchor reaches deeper embedment than an expansion anchor of the same diameter. Because the thread is cut, not expanded, the hole is not put into radial tension and the concrete around the hole is less likely to crack.

Against the wedge anchor: the self-tapping cuts a formed thread and reaches deeper embedment, and the position can be trimmed before final torque; the wedge anchor expands mechanically and sets faster on shallow fixings. Against a drop-in anchor: the self-tapping is a one-piece through fixing that shows the thread above the surface, while the drop-in sets flush for a removable bolt. Against chemical anchors: no resin, no cure time, immediate loading, but it cannot repair cracked concrete.
