The wedge anchor, also called an expansion bolt, is a one piece stud with an expansion clip and nut. The clip is forced over the cone end of the stud as the nut is tightened, expanding against the hole wall and locking the anchor in solid concrete. It is the most common through fixing for fixtures that sit on the surface, because it installs in one step with no setting tool.
