The four claw expansion bolt works on the same spring principle as the three claw version with four claws at the screw tip, which gives a wider opening behind the surface and a more even clamp across thin board. The shield is pushed through the hole folded, springs open behind the face, and the screw clamps the fixture against the near side. It suits plasterboard partitions, hollow block and cavity walls for light duty fixings where a plastic plug would pull through. Sizes run M6 to M16 with lengths from 40 mm to 120 mm, supplied with shield, nut and washer.

• Drill to the shield diameter through the board or block face.
• Fold the claws back and push the shield through until it clears the far face.
• Place the fixture, insert the screw and run it through the shield.
• Turn until the shield springs open and the head seats on the fixture.
• Stop when the fixture is held; over turning crushes thin board.
